Sept 2015 - Club Open Finals Day

Plenty of drama unfolded on a thankfully dry Saturday in September when the club's youngest and finest tennis players took to the courts for the annual club open tennis finals. It took 3 sets to separate Keren Cartwright from a tireless Carol Thompson, that ended with Keren winning 7-6 after a topsey turvey final set was settled in a dramatic tie-break. Carol shrugged off her despair and took the Womans doubles final alongside sister Lynn McGarry, before polishing off the day with a straight sets victory alongside Mark Leech in the mixed doubles. Mark followed a similar path to Carol after losing the singles to a faultless Ben Hodkinson. Mark claimed the Mens doubles alongside Stuart Elliott before his Mixed doubles quick fire victory. Jamie Radcliffe claimed what will be his final Junior singles trophy whilst the up and coming juniors of Sullivan, Smith and Dykes took the u12, u14 and u16 titles respectively.

August 2009 - End of season review

At the close of an excellent tennis season, three teams won their respective divisions in the Southport & District League. Holy Trinity first team, led by Mark Leech, won five matches and drew three, finishing in the upper half of the top division. Jason McCleod's 2nd team had exceptional results, remaining unbeaten all season and gaining promotion to the third division along with the cup. The third team, captained by Tony Davies, only lost one out of 14 matches to win the fifth division trophy and promotion, whilst the fourths in the same division managed to retain their position. Andrew McMorran led that team. In the eighth division Chantal Gee'sŠ fifth team won all but two matches and were rewarded with yet another trophy plus a move upwards. Andrew Hewitt managed to avoid relegation for the sixth team, no small matter when the higher teams are constantly pinching your players. With 48 players needed every week to represent the club, the majority of members including several useful Juniors, turned out at some time.

In the Junior League, Danny Green only entered an Under 14 boys team, who won more matches than they lost. Danny hopes to enter more teams next year and is commended for his encouragement and enthusiasm in organising the Junior programme.
